Say NO to Profits

Entrepreneurs are dreamers. They built a company from scratch.
It’s amazing to watch but can lead to unfocused decisions.
When you hear about an opportunity to expand your business, reach more customers, or offer a new service, it is usually an easy yes. You see the potential and think it can only grow your bottom line, right?
Unfortunately not so much. Expansion isn’t always bad, but it needs to fit your long-term plan. Adding too many expansions, customers, and services makes you unfocused. It spreads employees thin trying to be everything to everyone.
Focus requires you to know what you are good at and where you want to go. Answering those questions will ultimately lead you to have to make some tough choices when a new opportunity comes along.
It is going to hurt. You are going to worry that you are missing out. You are going to think about it while you go to sleep. (At least the first time you say no.) But sticking to the plan is going to give you a sense of relief. You will begin to quickly spot strategy creep and cut it off without a second thought.
Here’s the hard part. Get your strategy right. If you don’t have a destination, it doesn’t matter which way you turn. Velle Consulting can help. Text us at 719-355-8361
